Patsy's Cab Driver Robbed at Knifepoint on Durant Ave. in Holmdel

Police are looking for a suspect, who fled on foot Monday afternoon

A female driver working for of Matawan said she was robbed at knifepoint Monday afternoon in Holmdel.

The driver told Holmdel Police she was dropping off a male customer in the Orchards development off Laurel Avenue around 4:10 p.m. when he pulled out a knife and demanded money and the keys to the vehicle.

The woman was not injured.

After the robbery the suspect fled on foot, possibly to a waiting vehicle on Hylan, which the cab driver described as a charcoal Chevy Equinox. The driver said she is not certain if he actually got into the car.

The amount of money stolen from the cab driver was not disclosed by police, who also did not describe the knife. The keys and knife have not yet been recovered.

The driver described the suspect as a white male, in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 5'7" tall, medium build, with a brown moustache and beard. She said he was wearing an olive green sweatshirt and a black baseball cap. She had picked him up from a Hazlet address that police declined to identify, as the case is under investigation.

Holmdel Police officers searched the area with patrol officeers and a K-9 dog. Assisting at the scene were Sgt. Durdack, Sgt. Edward Martinez, Cpl. Gerard Burke and Dsg. Jeffrey Ackerson and Det. Eric Hernando.
