Old Bridge Man Allegedly Tried to Fill Fake Prescription in Matawan

Police say he presented the false prescription for oxycodone at Walgreens on Route 34

An Old Bridge man was arrested for allegedly forging a prescription and attempting to fill it at the on Route 34 in Matawan, according to the .

Lt. Ben Smith said Roberto Ritorto, 27, entered Walgreen's on Dec. 21 at about 8 p.m. and attempted to fill a prescription for 90 pills of oxycodone.

The pharmicist did not recognize the doctor's signature and told Ritorto that the prescription had to be confirmed with the doctor, Smith said. Ritorto then fled the pharmacy and never returned to attempt to pick up the pills.

Police were able to identify Ritorto and he was arrested Jan. 25 at about 5:45 p.m. by Det. Joseph Lovallo, Smith said.

Ritorto was issued a summons for forgery and released pending a municipal court date.
