Matawan Woman and Keyport Man Arrested for Alleged Possession, Distribution of Heroin

The two were arrested and charged in Middletown after allegedly being in possession of heroin and nucynta.

A Matawan woman and a Keyport man were arrested in Middletown on May 31 for alleged possession of heroin and nucynta; a drug used to treat moderate to severe pain.

Police say that Melissa D. Hopf, 25, of Matawan allegedly distributed 29 decks of heroin within 500 feet of a public structure while conspiring with another person, according to a complaint warrant. She is charged with heroin possession, distribution, distributing within 500-feet of a public structure and conspiracy.

According to a complaint warrant, Ryan Kite, 33, of Keyport was allegedly in possession of 29 decks of heroin and 75 mg of nucynta. Kite is charged with obtaining and possessing 29 decks of heroin, obtaining and possessing nucynta, possession with intent to distribute the heroin, intent to distribute within 500-feet of a public structure and conspiring with another person.

Kite also faces two disorderly persons offenses for allegedly concealing the 29 decks of heroin in a red case labeled breathe mints and one pill of nucynta in a coin purse.

Hopf was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $10,000 bail. Her first court appearance will be on Monday, June 25.
