Matawan Resident Flips Car in Holmdel, Charged with DWI

Police said the 5 a.m. crash would cause delays on several roads Sunday.

An 18-year-old Matawan resident was arrested early this morning in Holmdel, after striking a traffic light and flipping his car.

Daniel Behr, 18 of Matawan was allegedly driving drunk around 5 a.m. when he lost control of his car at the intersection of Everrett, Red Hill, Middletown and Crawfords Corner Roads. 

Behr's Chevy Impala struck a traffic signal, rolled several times, and came to a stop upright according to police. Behr was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured, no other cars were involved.

Behr was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. 

The traffic signal remains down as of 11 a.m. on Sunday. The Monmouth County Highway Department is on scene repairing the signal and a detour to American Way has been posted. Expect delays and a detour until approximately 2 p.m.
