Matawan Police Arrest 6 in Distracted Driver Crackdown

The department conducted its Distracted Driver Initiative during the first week of school.

Matawan police issued 169 summonses and arrested six as part of its Distracted Driver Initiative, according to Sgt. Thomas J. Falco.

Police conducted the program from Monday, Sept. 9 through Friday Sept. 13 to coincide with the first week of school. Officers' efforts focused on cell phone use and other facets of distracted driving, Falco said in a press release.

The police will conduct similar initiatives throughout the school year, according to Falco.
