Photos: Wires and Trees Down Throughout Matawan and Aberdeen

Many residents are experiencing power outages and multiple street lights are out.

Hurricane Sandy's whipping winds and endless rain are knocking down trees and pulling down power lines throughout Matawan and Aberdeen.

According to Matawan OEM Coordinator Sgt. Thomas Falco, a tree fell onto a Highland Avenue home and a tree and wires are down on Ravine Drive. Multiple roads throughout both municipalities are roped off with caution tape.

Emergency officials are asking that residents remain in their homes at this time. A travel ban went into effect at 6 p.m. Monday on all borough and township roads.

Downed wires should always be treated as live and dangerous. Do not drive around road barricades.
