Matawan PD Charge Local Man with Possession of Drugs, Stolen Firearm

The arrest was made Thursday evening

A Matawan man was arrested Thursday, Sept. 22 and charged with one count of possession of a weapon, one count of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of certain persons not to own a weapon.

Police say that Daniel Jeandron, 31, was in possession of cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, several hundred dollars in cash and a stolen .40 caliber automatic firearm. Police say they also found two boxes of bullets.

Matawan Borough Police were notified by NJ State Parole Office Investigator Jose Escobar and NJ State Police Det. John Hayes Thursday that a warrant was issued for Jeandron's arrest in relation to a parole violation. Escobar and Hayes are part of the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Jeandron was arrested at his apartment on Cliffwood Avenue at 6:30 p.m. by Matawan Borough Police Det. Joe Lovallo. Matawan Borough Police Sgt. Patrick Walker, Escobar and Hayes assisted.

Smith said police found approximately 20 ecstasy pills, about 50 grams of cocaine and about 50 grams of marijuana, in addition to the stolen firearm and bullets.

Jeandron was on parole for vehicular manslaughter, according to Smith.

He was transported to the Monmouth County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $207,500 bail.

The case will be heard by a Monmouth County Jury, who will decide whether or not to indict Jeandron. His arrest does not indicate a conviction.
