Matawan Man Stole Holiday Gifts from Aberdeen Homes, Police Charge

New Brunswick man also charged

A Matawan man was among two charged in Aberdeen with stealing holiday presents from township homes this week.

Apolinar Pelaez, 19, of Matawan, and Guadalupe Natividad, 18, of New Brunswick, allegedly burglarized and stole various items and gifts from homes on Courtland Lane and Bailey Road, according to police.

An investigation by police was launched after the pair were encountered by Officer Roger Peter along Church Street at about 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 23, police said.

Palaez was charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, possession of burglar’s tools, hindering apprehension, and unlawful possession of a weapon, police said.

Natividad was charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, possession of burglar’s tools, and hindering apprehension, police said.

Both were lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $45,500 bail, Palaez with a 10 percent payment option and Natividad with no 10 percent option, according to police.

Along with Peter, the incident was investigated by Sgt. Matt Lloyd and Detective Lou Nanna, police said.
