Matawan Man Indicted on Possession of Heroin Charge

The indictment stems from a June 2012 arrest, according to court documents.

A Matawan man was indicted by a Monmouth County grady jury Thursday on several charges stemming from a June 15 arrest made at his Matawan Borough home.

Police say that Marcus Nelson, 29, of Crest Circle, was found to be in possession of heroin and a machete when his parole officer made a surprise visit to his home.

He was indicted on a total of three charges, including third degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, fourth degree violation of community supervision for life and fourth degree certain persons not to be in possession of a weapon.

An indictment does not indicate a conviction, only that a grand jury decided there is enough evidence to proceed with a trial.
