Matawan Man Indicted on Child Porn Possession & Distribution Charges

Investigators also allege that he was in possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a local elementary school.

A Monmouth County grand jury voted Monday to indict a Matawan man on charges that he allegedly possessed and distributed child pornography and drugs.

Investigators say Robert Wood, 28, of the Tree Haven II apartments on Ravine Drive, was in possession of child pornography between Feb. 25, 2009 and Aug. 9, 2011. Child pornography is defined in the indictment as, "any photograph, film, video, computer program or file, video game or any other reconstruction which depicts a child engaging in a prohibited sexual act or simulation of a sex act including on the Internet."

The indictment further accuses Wood of distributing child pornography on three occasions in 2009, including May 10, June 4 and June 18.

An indictment does not indicate a conviction, only that a grand jury voted there was enough evidence to proceed with a trial.
