Matawan Man Charged with Burglary of Two Hazlet Businesses

He was recently charged with similar burglaries in Matawan, Old Bridge and Middletown.

A Matawan man recently charged with the burglaries of businesses in Matawan, Old Bridge and Middletown now faces similar charges in Hazlet, according to court documents.

Mario Castellano, 48, of Main Street in Matawan allegedly broke into Carousel Bakery on Aug. 8 and Lukoil on Aug. 22, the arrest warrant stated. Both businesses are on Bethany Road in Hazlet.  

Castellano allegedly stole $800 from Carousel Bakery and caused $1,300 worth of damage. He also allegedly stole $1,000 from Lukoil and caused $500 worth of damage.

Matawan Police arrested Castellano on Aug. 28 and charged him with the burglaries of five borough businesses, including Millennium Nails, Loving Hut, Wine Nation, Siam Smiles and General Plumbing Supply. 

Following his arrest, Castellano was also charged in Middletown for similar crimes.
