Matawan Man and Keyport Man Among 30 NJ Residents Charged in Child Pornography Bust

Local residents Layne Bracht of Matawan, Jonathan Burke of Keyport and Jason Faccibene of Morganville,were among 30 New Jersey residents convicted in a national child pornography bust.

An investigation into a child pornography website, which led to the conviction of more than 500 American subscribers, included Matawan, Keyport and Morganville residents.

In what New Jersey U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman is calling the most successful child pornography bust in American history, local residents Layne Bracht of Matawan, Jonathan Burke of Keyport, and Jason Faccibene of Morganville were among 30 New Jersey residents convicted.

According to a news release issued by the New Jersey U.S. Attorney's Office, the "hardcore child pornography" website was run by a Ukrainian citizen, Maksym Shynkarenko. The site included images of children being sexually assaulted and abused.

The leader of the site was arrested and extradited to in Jan. 2009, the result of an investigation that began in 2005. Bracht was sentenced to 30 months, Burke to 33 months and Faccibene to 34 months, according to the New Jersey U.S. Attorney's Office release.

"The convicted subscribers to the “Illegal.CP” website include dozens of previously convicted sex offenders and the investigation has led to the discovery of numerous others who were actively molesting children," according to the news release.

Shynkarenko appeared in federal court today. He faces 32 charges, including one count of conspiracy to transport and ship child pornography; 16 counts of transportation and shipment of child pornography; one count of conspiracy to advertise child pornography; 12 counts of advertising child pornography; and one count each of engaging in a child exploitation enterprise and money laundering.

If convicted, Shynkarenko faces up to 20 years in prison on each count of the transporation and shipment of child pornography, as well as related fines.
