Aberdeen and Matawan Police Investigating Early Morning Burglaries

Residents were home at the time of the burglaries, police say.

Aberdeen and Matawan Police are investigating the burglaries of two occupied residents in recent months, according to a press release issued jointly by both departments.

The incidents occurred at the Tree Haven Village III apartment complex and at the Marc Hampton complex in Matawan in August.

Both early morning burglaries involved a physical altercation between the suspect and the residents, according to police. The suspect in both burglaries is believed to be the same person.

Detectives from Aberdeen and Matawan are conducting a joint investigation due to the similarities between the two burglaries and their close proximities to one another, according to police.

Residents are encouraged to lock all doors and windows at night. A light should also be left on to discourage any potential intruders, police say. In addition, residents are reminded to always be alert of their surroundings, and to park their vehicles in well it areas whenever possible.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to contact Matawan Detective Joe Lovallo at 732-290-2038 or Aberdeen Detective Hank Chevalier at 732-566-2054.

Police also ask that residents report any suspicious activity they notice immediately to police.
