Man Indicted for Unlawful Possession of a Weapon

The Grand Jury handed up the indictment Wednesday, Aug. 10

A Monmouth County Grand Jury voted yesterday to indict an Aberdeen man on one count of unlawful possession of a weapon, one count of tampering with evidence and one count of obstructing the administration of law or governmental function.

Police say that John Schunck, 27, of the Cliffwood Beach area of Aberdeen Township, possessed a "hatchet and/or bat and/or pocket knife under circumstances not manifestly appropriate for such lawful uses as it may have," on May 7, according to the indictment.

The indictment also alleges that on May 7, Schunck tampered with evidence and obstructed the detection of a controlled dangerous substance by swallowing pills, "with purpose to impair its verity or availability in such proceeding or investigation."
