Keyport Man Charged for Alleged Involvement in Aberdeen Burglaries

Aberdeen Police arrested a Keyport man in connection with the burglaries or attempted burglaries of eight township homes that began in December 2011.

Police say that Rami Ramada, 23, conspired with other still unidentified individuals to commit burglaries at homes on Canfield Lane, Lake Blvd., and Third Street.

A total of $28,085 worth of proceeds were taken from the homes, according to the charges filed against Ramada.

Information uncovered during the investigation led Aberdeen Township detectives on Feb. 6 to a residence on Harrison Avenue, where Ramada was staying. Detectives discovered proceeds of several burglaries and an unspecified amount of heroin.

Police also seized a white 2005 Kia Sorrento during the search, which Chief of Police John Powers said was used in the burglaries. The vehicle belongs to Ramada's girlfriend, police say.

Ramada is charged with eight counts of conspiracy to commit burglary, eight counts of conspiracy to commit theft, one count of receiving stolen property taken from a Dogwood Court residence in November 2011, possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park, and possession of hollow point ammunition. He was also arrested on a contempt warrant out of Aberdeen municipal court.

Bail was set at $312,689 and Ramada was committed to the Monmouth
County Correctional Institution.

The investigation is continuing and police ask that anyone with information should contact the detective bureau at 732-566-2054.
