Howell Man Arrested For Allegedly Possessing, Attempting to Sell Heroin at Quik Check

Matawan Police say they arrested the Howell man with 23 bags of heroin on his person.

Four people were arrested at the Quick Chek on Main Street in Matawan on Sept. 13 after officers observed the group engaging in suspicious activity in a parked car, according to Lt. Ben Smith.

When Ptl. Chris Stark approached the group, it became apparent that they were conducting a drug deal, Smith explained.

One of the men in the car, identified as Andrew Cabarello, 23, of Howell, was found to have 23 individually packaged bags of heroin in his jeans.

Caballero was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of a park.

Bail was set at $30,000. Caballero was committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility.

The three other individuals were charged with loitering to commit a controlled dangerous substance crime.
