Hazlet Women Arrested in Aberdeen

According to Police, two Hazlet women have been charged with shoplifting and drug related charges.

The arrested two Hazlet residents on alleged drug-related offenses and shoplifting charges.

On Sunday, April 1 Police Officer Michael Lasko and Police Officer Mary Johnston responded to the Lloyd Road store on a report of two shoplifters. Melanie R. Olschewski, 28, and Janine S. Schantz, 53, both Monique Circle, Hazlet, were taken into custody for allegedly taking over $500 worth of merchandise from the store.

According to the Aberdeen Township Police’s press release, during processing at headquarters Olschewski was found to be in possession of a hypodermic syringe, suspected heroin, and other drug paraphernalia Schantz was also found to be in possession of a glass pipe and suspected heroin.

Both women were charged with shoplifting, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition to those charges, Olschewski was also charged with possession of a hypodermic syringe. She also was wanted on a $250.00 warrant for contempt out of Aberdeen municipal court.

Bail for both women was set at $10,000 each. They were both transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in default of bail.
