GSP Accident Causes Heavy Delay

Driver injured in Old Bridge accident Wednesday night is expected to make full recovery.

An accident on the Garden State Parkway near mile marker 121.9 in Old Bridge caused heavy traffic delays around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20.

According state police, a driver was operating her vehicle in the left lane of the expressway when for an unknown reason the car went off into the grass and struck a tree at approximately 5:42 p.m.

The impact and the damage to the car caused the driver, Kimberly Russomanno, 20, of Nutley, to become entrapped. She had to be extracted from the car, state police said.

Russomanno was flown by a medevac helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Police said that Russomanno sustained a broken arm and is expected to make a full recovery.
