Freehold Man Charged with Intent to Distribute in Matawan
Police say the suspect was in possession of marijuana and $350 cash
A Freehold man was arrested in Matawan and charged with possession of marijuana and intent to distribute after a routine traffic stop Wednesday shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Police say Matawan Patrolman Chris Stark stopped a 2008 Jeep Cherokee for an expired registration on Main Street in Matawan. The driver, identified as Davon Reid, 21, of Freehold Township was driving on a suspended license, police say.
During the arrest, Stark found a small bag of marijuana on Reid and called the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department for a K-9 unit to conduct a search of the vehicle, according to Matawan Lt. Ben Smith. Monmouth County Officer Kurt Kroeter and his K-9, Evan, conducted a search of the Jeep and discovered another bag of marijuana in the glove compartment, Smith said.

$350 in cash was also seized during the arrest, according to police.
Reid was charged with possession, intent to distribute, driving with a suspended license and received a summons for operating an unregistered vehicle.

Bail was set at $5,000 with a 10% option and Reid was released on $500 cash.
