Holmes is accused of allegedly sexually abusing a local girl for two years, by serving her alcohol before allegedly sexually abusing her from the time the alleged victim was 12 to 14-years old.

According to the Asbury Park Press, Superior Court Judge Richard W. English began to hear the jury trial last Thursday. Holmes pleaded not guilty.

Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Peter Boser alleged before the jury that Holmes repeatedly used a mix of Captain Morgan and Coca Cola before what the prosecution named the "first incidence of sexual assault" in April 2005.

A key witness in the prosecution's case is Detective Paul Reed, who recounted several conversations he had with Holmes in which Holmes detailed the incidents in question, according to the Asbury Park Press.

The defense alleges the victim in question is troubled, and the time line of accusations points to a lack of credibility.

Holmes is a member of Marlboro's $100k pension club, reportedly a pension he is currently living off of until last July when his pension wa suspended.

Holmes retired in 2009 before his indictment, but his pension totals $106,010 per year. Holmes is charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Holmes is also currently a Marlboro Township fire commissioner, according to August meeting minutes.
