Early Morning Chase Ends With Arrest in Aberdeen

Driver faces charges in several towns

On Thursday morning just after midnight Devante Jones, 19, of Manalapan started a police chase in Howell that eventually ended with his being apprehended following a foot pursuit well up the Route 9 corridor in Aberdeen.

According to Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd Jones was observed by Cpl. Fred Bauer to be driving his 2012 Toyota in a reckless manner. After Jones refused to stop he lead officers on a chase through Freehold, Manalapan and Marlboro before Bauer stopped his chase.

Dodd said not long after the Aberdeen Police Department informed them that they were pursuing the car. After attempting to get out of the car and flee on foot Dodd said Jones was arrested in Aberdeen and was taken to the Monmouth County Jail pending charges from the various towns.

From Howell, Jones faces one count of second degree criminal eluding and nine motor vehicle violations.
