Driver fled scene, police said, but was located shortly after the accident

An Aberdeen man was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident after a one-vehicle accident on Church Street Tuesday at about 11:30 p.m.

Police say that Robert Hennessy, Jr., 24, was driving a 1999 Nissan Maxima south on Church Street between Lloyd Road and South Atlantic Avenue when he left the road and struck a Ford Focus parked in the driveway of 191 Church Street.

After hitting the Ford, the Nissan continued across the lawn and through bushes that border 197 Church Street and ended up back on the roadway, Aberdeen Chief of Police John Powers said.
