County, School District Team Up for Heroin Program

Program begins 7 p.m. at Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School

School administrators are teaming up with county law enforcement to alert students and parents to the growing heroin problem in Monmouth.

Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District and Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office will speak about the issue during a Monday, Dec. 2 program in the borough's middle school beginning at 7 p.m., according to organizers.

Chief of Detectives and former Special Agent in charge of the FDA in New Jersey, Michael Paterchick, will be the featured speaker, according to organizers.

Also scheduled to speak are Barbara Cashin, CSW, LCADC, and a local parent who will share her family’s experience with heroin addiction.

“We hope that you can join us as we try to put an end to this problem facing our community,” the district said in a statement.
