Chief: Aberdeen Man Set Off Fireworks, Urinated on Police Station Walls

Anthony S. Genovese allegedly spit on an officer and resisted arrest.

An Aberdeen man charged with setting off illegal fireworks had an odd way of celebrating Independence Day weekend when he reached the police station, according to Aberdeen Police Chief John T. Powers.

Anthony S. Genovese, 51, urinated on jail cell walls and damaged a faucet at police headquarters after assaulting an officer during his arrest, Powers said in a press release.

Aberdeen police responded to Genovese’s Cypress Court residence on Wednesday at 5 p.m. after receiving calls of loud fireworks in the area. Powers said Genovese was combative with officers, resisted arrest and spit in Police Officer Frank Maisano’s face. Genovese was transported to the Aberdeen Police Department headquarters, where his activities resulted in additional charges, according to Powers.
