Broad Street Utility Pole Snaps, Causes Local Power Outages
Power is expected to return to the area soon, authorities say.
A utility pole on Broad Street snapped Wednesday night, leaving some Matawan residents and local businesses without power, according to Lt. Ben Smith.
Broad Street will remain closed to traffic between Route 79 and Route 34 until the Jersey Central Power & Light crews can repair the pole. Outages in the area have forced businesses in Colonial Shops to temporarily close.
According to Lt. Smith, power is expected to be restored soon.
The JCP&L outage map on the First Energy website does not show any outages in the area.
