Aberdeen PD: Suspicious Car Fire, Theft

Aberdeen Township Police activity between Nov. 15 and Nov. 17

The Aberdeen Township Police made the following arrests Nov. 15 through Nov. 22:

  • On Nov. 15 Officer Craig Hausmann charged a township man, age 18, with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, and a 19-year-old township resident with possession of drug paraphernalia, at Matawan Terrace apartment complex.
  • A thirty-year-old resident of Perth Amboy was arrested by Det. Hank Chevalier on Nov. 18 on a contempt warrant out of Maurice River municipal court.
  • Mark Dikker, 56, Marlboro, was arrested for theft by Det. Manny Carabel on Nov. 18. He was released on a summons.
  • Officer Frank Maisano arrested a 31-year old resident of Brooklyn, NY on Nov. 21st for contempt of court out of Hazlet municipal court. He was turned over to Hazlet police.
  • Officer Jeffrey Griffith arrested a 26-year old Aberdeen resident on Nov. 22 for contempt of court out of Middlesex County Superior Court.
  • Officer John Young arrested an Aberdeen man, age 41, on November 22nd on a contempt of court warrant issued out of Hillside municipal court.

Other police activity during that period:

  • Officer Mary Johnston investigated a report of a theft of a lawn ornament on Highfield Avenue on Nov. 15.
  • Officer Vito Turchiano investigated a report of criminal mischief at Matawan Regional High School on Nov. 15.
  • On Nov. 16 Officer Mary Johnston responded to a disorderly person complaint involving a juvenile in crisis on Center Street.
  • On Nov. 16 a twenty-year-old resident of Beverly Dr. was charged with careless driving following a motor vehicle crash on Van Brakle Rd. There were no injuries. Officer Matthew McDow investigated.
  • Officer Craig Hausmann responded to a vehicle fire on Nov. 17 at 2:30 a.m. at Matawan Terrace apartments. The fire was deemed suspicious and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information should contact the detective bureau.
  • Two storage units on County Rd. were reported burglarized between Nov. 1 and Nov. 17. Power and hand tools valued at over $5,000 were reported stolen. Officer Mary Johnston and Officer Gus Grivas investigated. Anyone with information should contact the detective bureau at 732-566-2054.
  • Officer Roger Peter investigated an incident of harassment on Gaston St. on Nov. 20.
  • Officer Matthew Lloyd responded to a report of harassing phone calls made to a resident of Netherwood Dr. between Nov. 1 and Nov. 20.

This report has been compiled from a regular blotter provided by the Aberdeen Township Police Department. A criminal charge represents an accusation; defendants named are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
