Several cars were burglarized and several others were damaged by rocks thrown from a moving vehicle in recent days, according to Aberdeen Chief of Police John Powers.
Multiple people who parked in the area of Lake Boulevard, Fourth Street, and Atlantic Avenue reported that their cars were burglarized sometime during the night on Aug. 6 or early morning hours of Aug. 7, Powers said.
All of the cars were left unlocked, according to Powers. Pocketbooks, compact discs, electronic items, and cash were reported stolen.
Powers said the police department is encouraging residents to lock their vehicles, remove all valuables, and immediately report suspicious activity to police.
P.O. John Young, P.O. Vito Turchiano, and Det. Manny Carabel conducted the initial investigation.
In addition to the car burglaries, twelve parked vehicles were damaged by rocks over the weekend on various township streets, Powers said.
Four cars on Inglewood Lane, five on Courtland Lane, and one each on Idlewild Lane, Monica Street, and Atlantic Avenue sustained broken windows and/or body damage caused by rocks thrown from a passing vehicle. The vandalism took place between the evening of Saturday, Aug. 4 night and the morning of Sunday, Aug. 5.
Anyone with information about either of these incidents is asked to contact the Aberdeen Township Detective Bureau at 732-566-2054.
