Aberdeen PD Investigating Third "I" Section Burglary

A home on Idaho Lane in Strathmore was burglarized, police say

Aberdeen Police are investigating the burglary of a home on Idaho Lane in the Strathmore section of the township, according to Chief of Police John Powers.

On Monday, Jan. 23 the home was entered through a side window sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Jewelry, two laptop computers, an iPad and an iPod Touch were taken.

During the investigation of the burglary, a resident reported seeing two males wearing hoodies get out of a small white SUV-type vehicle with yellow New Jersey license plates on Third Street and walk to the rear of another residence. The vehicle and two men were gone when police arrived.

This is the third burglary reported in recent weeks in the "I" section of Strathmore. On Wednesday, Jan. 18, an through a rear window sometime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. and jewelry was reported missing, according to police.

Earlier that day a resident of another Strathmore-area home on Ivyhill Drive reported that two men came to her door asking to check for leaks. One was wearing a dark-colored hoodie, baseball cap, and jeans; the other was wearing a gray hoodie and jeans, the resident reported to police. Responding officers were unable to locate the subjects.

A similar burglary of a residence on Idlewild Lane was reported Dec. 24, 2011.

Powers said there are some definite similarities between the burglaries, including the time that they happened and the way the homes were entered. Residents are encouraged to and report any suspicious activity or people they notice.
