Aberdeen PD: DWI, Drug Possession

Aberdeen Township Police activity between Sept. 12 and Sept. 18, 2012

The Aberdeen Township Police Department responded to or initiated 310 calls for service between Sept. 12 and Sept. 18, 2012, including eleven suspicious persons/vehicles; 15 alarms; 16 first aid calls; 12 motor vehicle crashes; three thefts; seven domestic violence incidents, seven noise complaints; one criminal mischief incident, eight disorderly persons, and 98 motor vehicle stops, according to Chief of Police John Powers. Officers also issued 61 motor vehicle summonses.

The Aberdeen Township Police made the following arrests Sept. 12 through Sept. 18:

  • P.O. Darryl Richardson arrested a 33-year-old Newark man for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court on September 12.
  • A 24-year-old Newark man was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief, and contempt of court following an incident on Brown Place on September 12.  P.O. Frank Maisano was the arresting officer.
  • Special Officer Michael Scarpa arrested a 27-year-old Roselle woman for contempt of court out of Linden municipal court following a motor vehicle stop on Highway 35 on September 14.
  • On September 14 a 17-year-old Matawan youth was taken into custody for disorderly conduct following an incident on Atlantic Ave.  P.O. Mary Johnston made the arrest.
  • P.O. Matthew McDow arrested a 21-year-old Old Bridge woman for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court on September 15.
  • P.O. Matthew McDow arrested a 21-year-old Fair Lawn man for possession of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on Hawthorne St. on September 15.  He was also charged with making an improper turn and operating a motor vehicle while in possession of CDS.
  • Jose A. Rexach, 43, Aberdeen, was charged with possession of heroin following an incident on Lower Main St. on September 15.  P.O. Mary Johnston was the arresting officer.
  • Ryan N. Testino, 22, Matawan, was charged with speeding, driving while intoxicated, and refusal to submit to a breath test by P.O. Raymond Campbell following a motor vehicle stop on Hwy. 35 on September 17.
  • A 21-year-old Aberdeen man was charged with simple assault following an incident on Atlantic Ave. on September 17.  P.O. Raymond Campbell was the arresting officer.
  • P.O. Darryl Richardson arrested a 50-year-old Newark man for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court on September 17.
  • A 22-year-old South Amboy man was arrested for violation of a court order following an incident on Ivyhill Dr. on September 17.  P.O. Christopher DeSarno was the arresting officer.
  • On September 17 a 38-year-old Aberdeen man was arrested for terroristic threats following an incident on Greenwood Ave.  P.O. Gus Grivas made the arrest.
  • A 49-year-old Aberdeen man was charged with criminal mischief following an incident on Rose St. on September 17.  P.O. Frank Maisano was the arresting officer.
  • Benjamin M. Monroe, 18, Raritan St., after he was found going through a vehicle parked on Orchard St. on September 18.  He was also charged with criminal mischief and resisting arrest after he damaged a wall at police headquarters. Bail was set at $10,000 with no 10% option and he was committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in default of bail.  P.O. Matthew McDow and Sgt. Raymond Sosa were the arresting officers.

  • On September 13 P.O. Matthew McDow responded to a report of a burglary of a residence on Cliffwood Ave.
  • On September 13  P.O. Mary Johnston responded to a report of a juvenile in crisis at Ken Gardens apartments, Matawan Ave.  
  • Special Officer Michael Scarpa responded to a report of an attempted suicide on Matawan Ave. on September 14.
  • On September 14 a Jersey Ave. resident reported someone entered her residence by removing an air conditioner. Nothing was reported taken.  P.O. Craig Hausmann and Det. Louis Nanna investigated.
  • A township resident reported his vehicle was damaged while parked at the train station, Atlantic Ave. on September 15.  P.O. Michael Lasko responded.
  • On September 15 a resident of Arbordale Dr. reported she has been receiving harassing text messages.  P.O. John Young investigated.
  • A Mongoose BMX bicycle valued at $160 was reported stolen from in front of a West Concourse residence. P.O. Matthew McDow took the report.
  • Two bicycles with a total value of $850 were reported stolen from a storage facility on County Rd. on September 17.  P.O. Martin Walsh responded.
  • On September 18 a resident of Gulden St. reported unauthorized charges to his credit card.  P.O. Darryl Richardson took the report.
  • P.O. Martin Walsh responded to a neighbor dispute on Arbordale Dr. on September 18.
  • On September 18 P.O. Matthew McDow responded to a report of phone harassment on Barbara Place.
