Aberdeen PD: Aggravated Assault, Burglary

Aberdeen police activity between August 1 and August 7, 2012

Editor's note: The information in this report was provided by the Aberdeen Township Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The Aberdeen Township Police Department responded to or initiated 290 calls for service between August 1 and August 7, 2012, including 18 suspicious persons/vehicles; seven alarms; 22 first aid calls; 10 motor vehicle crashes; eight burglaries; three thefts; six domestic violence incidents, nine noise complaints; one robbery, 16 criminal mischief incidents and 93 motor vehicle stops, according to Chief of Police John Powers. Officers also issued 77 motor vehicle summonses.

The Aberdeen Township Police made the following arrests August 1, 2012 through August 7, 2012:

  • Jose Diaz, 21, Aberdeen, was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft, and harassment following an incident at Oakridge Manor, Cliffwood Ave. on August 1. P.O. John Zeller was the arresting officer.
  • Jeffrey R. Koscinski, Jr., 31, Aberdeen, was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer and obstruction of justice following an incident Tree Haven III apartments, Aberdeen Rd. on August 2. P.O. Raymond Campbell was the arresting officer.
  • P.O. John Zeller arrested a 50-year-old Camden man for shoplifting at the CVS store, South Atlantic Ave. on August 2.
  • A 40- year-old Old Bridge woman was arrested for contempt of court out of Sayreville municipal court on August 2. P.O. Matthew Lloyd was the arresting officer.
  • Donald Ellis Mizell, 38, Aberdeen, was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct , Highway 35 on August 3. P.O. Gus Grivas was the arresting officer.
  • On August 3 Matthew R. Pagliaro, 25, of Branford, CT, was on South Atlantic Ave. He was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of prescription legend drugs. Bail was set at $155,000 with no 10% option and Pagliaro was committed to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in default of bail. Arresting officers were P.O. Matthew McDow, P.O. Brian Alberti, and P.O. Frank Maisano.
  • A 28-year-old township woman and a 31-year-old township man were each charged with simple assault following an incident on Matawan Ave. on August 3. Special Officer Michael Scarpa and P.O. Mary Johnston investigated.
  • A 26- year-old Keyport man was arrested for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court on August 4 P.O. Craig Hausmann was the arresting officer.
  • A 26- year-old Aberdeen man was arrested for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court on August 4 P.O. Anthony Marone was the arresting officer.
  • P.O. Anthony Marone arrested a 31-year-old Aberdeen woman for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court on August 4.
  • P.O. Craig Hausmann arrested a 50-year-old Middletown man for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court on August 4.
  • P.O. Roger Peter arrested a 27-year-old Aberdeen woman for contempt of court out of Holmdel and Belmar municipal courts on August 5.
  • P.O. John Young arrested a 41-year-old South Toms River man for contempt of court out of Aberdeen municipal court on August 6.
  • A 45-year-old township man was charged with simple assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose following an incident on Cliffwood Ave. on August 7. P.O. Anthony Valentino investigated.

Other police activity during that period:

  • On August 1 P.O. Frank Maisano investigated the burglary of the Community Church of Christ, Bishop James Clark Place. A quantity of cash was taken. Det. Manuel Carabel is continuing the investigation.
  • P.O. Matthew Lloyd responded to a report of individuals living on the vacant 84 Lumber property, Highway 35, on August 2.
  • On August 3 an Aberdeen Rd. resident reported his garage window had been damaged by someone with a BB gun. P.O. Gus Grivas took the report.
  • A resident of Avalon apartments, Central Ave., reported harassment by an
    individual in the complex on August 3. Special Officer Michael Scarpa took the report.
  • On August 3 a resident of Brookside Ave. reported the theft of a safe containing cash. P.O. Frank Maisano investigated.
  • A resident of Avalon apartments reported receiving harassing phone calls on August 4. P.O. Anthony Marone took the report.
  • P.O. Louis Nanna responded to a suspicious person report on Lower Main St. on August 4.
  • Twelve parked vehicles over the weekend of August 4 and 5 on various township streets. Four vehicles on Inglewood Lane, five on Courtland Lane, and one each on Idlewild Lane, Monica Street, and Atlantic Ave. sustained broken windows and/or body damage caused by rocks thrown from a passing vehicle.
  • On August 5 P.O. Mary Johnston investigated the burglary of the Butler Masonic Temple, County Rd.
  • On August 6 a Beaver Place resident reported someone drove over his front lawn. P.O. Jeffrey Griffith responded.
  • The in the area of Lake Blvd., Fourth St., and Atlantic Ave. were reported on August 7. All of the vehicles were left unlocked. Pocketbooks, compact discs, electronic items, and cash were reported stolen. P.O. John Young, P.O. Vito Turchiano, and Det. Manny Carabel conducted the initial investigation.
