Aberdeen Man Arrested on Assault, Weapons Charges

William J. Dalton was taken into custody Friday.

An investigation into an assault report left an Aberdeen man in handcuffs Friday afternoon.

William J. Dalton, 48, of Brookside Avenue, was allegedly found with three rifles in possession, despite being qualified by New Jersey law enforcement agencies as a person not eligible to possess firearms.

The weapons were discovered when Special Officer Joseph Mason and Police Officer Brian Alberti responded to reports of an assault, according to a press release from the Aberdeen Township Police Department.

Court documents indicate bail for Dalton was set at $100,000. He faces simple assault and weapons possession charges.
