Rapist's Rights? Wake Up America!

Paul Ryan lost his bid for vice president but not his disdain for women or the Northeast. He opposed the recently passed bill to provide 9.7 million to help people devastated by Superstorm Sandy. Instead of working towards finding middle ground on the budget and deficit Congressman Ryan is determined to eliminate women’s rights.

Ryan is trying to bypass the Supreme Court Roe vs Wade decision with his Sanctity of Life Act.  The Act has two declarations. The first states that human life begins at fertilization and has the same rights as every other American. Webster defines life as “the quality that distinguishes a vital functional being from a dead body”. Using this definition it is untrue that human life begins at fertilization. Human life begins in the fetus of the mothers’ mother. Life is in process already with the sperm and the egg. Each sperm is alive just as each ovum is alive.

The question here is when should life be given citizenship? A zygote has the same brain power as a sperm or an egg; none! An eight week old fetus has the same brain power as the sperm and the egg; none! According to the CDC almost ninety two (91.7%) of all abortions are done before the 13th week, before the fetus has brain functionality. The fetus cannot think, cannot feel because it doesn’t have a functioning brain or a functioning nervous system.

Now maybe Paul Ryan has been associating too much with the right wing extremists; so much so that he thinks Americans don’t have functioning brains. We do! The fetus at the time of most abortions does not. The fetus is alive but it is no more a functional human being than the sperm or egg that created it.

If Paul Ryan really cared about human life why doesn’t he take care of the children already born? According to the US Department of Health and Human Services approximately 107,000 children were waiting for adoption in 2010 in the US alone. In 2010, 754,000 children were confirmed to be victims of maltreatment and there were approximately 415,000 children in foster care. Why force more unwanted pregnancies with these statistics? Where is the sanctity of life for those children never adopted?

The second declaration of the Sanctity of Life Act reads “each State, the District of Columbia, and all United States territories have the authority to protect the lives of all human beings residing in its respective jurisdictions”. This part provides the rapist the ability to sue their victims if the victim chooses to abort the result of the rape. Rapists cannot have rights over their victims! What’s next, we let rapists make money telling other perverts how to rape a woman pregnant?!!!

Paul Ryan and the Repubs also refuse to pass the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) because it applies to ALL women EVERYWHERE in the United States. For some reason, Paul Ryan thinks the rape of an illegal immigrant is OK. It isn’t. Paul Ryan thinks rape on a reservation can legally be too messy so why bother. Too messy! Paul Ryan needs to understand the mess left in and on the victim of a rape for the rest of their lives. VAWA should be passed to include all women.

Shouldn’t the Sanctity of Life apply to women? Why do House Republicans care more about rapists than the females that elected them into their office?

Throughout history people have excused rape and/or blamed women for their misdeeds. Look at rape in mythology and many religions. Zeus had his way with plenty of women. It’s odd because this God always chose virgins to rape. Besides being horrendous, it makes absolutely no sense. Virginity was only cherished because a virgin would not have sexually transmitted diseases. Men were not clean and safe sex was only safe for the man; the female would be infected with whatever diseases that man had. Why would the creator need a virgin unless he had to physically force his supreme sperm inside her?

This is Earth-is-the-center-of-the-universe logic! People really thought the entity that created this magnificent universe had a human penis with human sperm! It is sad to think people are so spiritually downtrodden they could believe the creator of everything would force himself upon any human!

Rape is never a blessed or spiritual event.

All Americans must speak up for women’s rights. We are your mothers, your sisters, your daughters, your wives. We are your friends.

Please, call your house representative. Tell your representative to pass the senate version of VAWA because that includes all women. Women have the right to control their own bodies. Tell your representative to stop working on the anti-abortion legislation.

Our House representatives should be trying to fix the economy not control women.
