Union Beach Resident Peter P. Konopko Jr. Dies at 70

He is survived by three children and six grandchildren.

Peter P. Konopko Jr., 70, of Union Beach, died Monday at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.  Born in Harrison, he and his family soon moved to Union Beach, a town where he happily spent the rest of his life.  As a young man, he worked on the railroad at Penn Station; worked nearly a decade at Kerr Glass, Keyport, before retiring after 20 years at Howmedica, Rutherford. 

Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maureen (Smith) Konopko; his parents, Peter and Anna Konopko; and his brother, Thomas Konopko; and brother-in-law, Mark Smith.  He is survived by his loving children, Michael Konopko, Michele K. Lawson; and Marilyn Rusignuolo; his cherished grandsons, Luke, Kyle and Peter Lawson; and Andrew, Daniel and Jacob Rusignuolo; his Goddaughter, Nicole English; father-in-law, Paul J. Smith, Sr.; beloved in-laws, Paul and Sharon Smith, John and Gail Smith, Tricia Smith and Ellen Smith; and his dear companion, Peggy Greenwald.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
