Ronald J. Byrne, U.S. Marine Veteran from Matawan, Dies at 79

Byrne lived in Matawan for the past 39 years

Ronald Joseph Byrne, 79, of Matawan, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at home.

Born in Brooklyn, he has lived in Matawan for the past 39 years. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps, and worked as an Electrician for Local 3 in New York City.

Ronald was an avid golfer, writer, world traveler, and most of all a beloved father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Ronald is predeceased by his beloved wife Nancy; and his parents, Daniel and Mary Byrne. He is survived by his children, Christopher Byrne and his wife Mary Ellen of Aberdeen, and Donna Ramirez and her husband Michael of Matawan; sisters, Dolores Brady of Brooklyn, and Joy Buscaglia and her husband Bill of FL; grandchildren, Heather, Melissa, and Maureen, and a great grandson, Liam Byrne. 

Services were held on Sunday and Monday at Day Funeral Home in Keyport. Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
