Obituary: Sheila Ann Byrne, 73, of Aberdeen Dies

She was an active member of the Board of Trustees at Strathmore Bath & Tennis Club and also worked at local voting facilities on numerous election days.

Sheila Ann (Gardner) Byrne, 73, of Aberdeen, passed away, Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the Gardens of Monroe, Monroe Township, after a long illness. Sheila was born on March 4, 1939 in Jersey City and graduated from St. Aloysius High School. She moved to Aberdeen in 1963 and spent many years working at Strathmore Elementary School. She was an active member of the Board of Trustees at Strathmore Bath & Tennis Club and also worked at local voting facilities on numerous election days.

Sheila was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Sharpe Gardner; and a son, John Gardner Byrne. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Walter D. Byrne; a daughter, Kristen Allshouse and husband Scott of Granby, CT; and three cherished granddaughters, Megan, Emily and Katelyn. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

At the direction of the family, cremation will be private. Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735, is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial contributions made to The American Cancer Society.
