Obituary: Ruth Eovino, 95, of Matawan

A lifelong resident of Matawan, Eovino was an avid bowler, baker and volunteer.

Ruth Ziegler Eovino, lifelong resident of Matawan, passed away on Thursday February 7, 2013, surrounded by family at her son’s home in Wall Township, just three weeks shy of her 96th birthday. Born and raised on the family's farm in Matawan, the oldest of eleven children, Ruth went on to marry Michael J. Eovino in 1942 and make a home for them and their three sons.

Ruth was well loved in the community, known for baking hundreds of cookies each year, working at the Methodist Church's food pantry each week, and participating in two local bowling leagues, activities which she participated in through the age of 95.

Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband Michael in 2000, her parents, Harold & Phoebe Ziegler, and ten brothers and sisters. She is survived by sons Michael Jr. & wife Kathy, Peter & wife Kathleen, and Paul & wife Sandi, along with five grandchildren, Michael III, Jessica, Kate, Matt, & Ben, two great-grandchildren, Lucy & Allie, and many nieces & nephews.

Family and friends are invited Tuesday, February 12th, 2012, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Wednesday, February 13, 2013, 9AM at the funeral home, with a 10AM service at the Matawan United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the Matawan United Methodist Church's Food Pantry, 478 Atlantic Avenue, Aberdeen, NJ, 07747.
