Obituary: Michael Steven O'Kane, 44, of Matawan

Services scheduled for Monday and Tuesday

Michael Steven O'Kane, 44, of Matawan, passed away, Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at home. 

Born in Red Bank, he was a lifelong resident of Matawan. In 1992, Michael ran for Matawan Council. He volunteered at nursing homes during the Christmas holiday singing karaoke. He also called "shut-ins."

Michael was predeceased by his father, Walter O’Kane and a brother, Joseph O’Kane. He is survived by his loving mother, Barbara (Zelichowski) O’Kane; a dear brother, Jeff O’Kane and a dear sister, Deborah Fisher, all of Matawan. He also leaves behind, his beloved dog "Cinderella." 

He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited Monday, Nov. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport; and Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. 

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
