Obituary: Matawan Resident Margaret Diercks, 83

Services are scheduled for Sunday and Monday

Margaret (Grimes) Diercks, 83, of Matawan, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel. 

She was born in New York City. She worked as a bookkeeper with Bonwitt Teller, NYC; and loved spending time with her family.

Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Diercks; a daughter, Eileen Margaret Diercks-Ellsworth; her parents, Thomas and Margaret (McKevitt) Grimes; her brother, John Grimes; and a grandson, Edward Ellsworth, III.  

She is survived by two loving daughters, Maureen Giugliano and husband Barry of Matawan; and Kathleen D’Ambrisi and husband Phillip of Marlboro; her cherished grandchildren, Kellie Ann Nunez and husband Julio of Aberdeen; Heather Lynn Giugliano and her fiancé Christopher Hackmann of Matawan; and Edward’s wife, Stacey Sheman-Ellsworth; and two precious great grandchildren, Aiden Connor Nunez and Gabriella Lucia Nunez, both of Aberdeen.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Family and friends are invited Sunday, Jan. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Monday, Jan. 6 at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with a 9:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Keyport.  

Interment will follow at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
