Obituary: Lover of Classical Music Dies at 65

The Matawan resident was also an avid hunter and had a passion for both history and cooking.

Barry Moore Ferguson, Sr., 65, of Matawan, N.J., passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, in his home. Barry was raised in Summit. He later moved to Matawan with his wife and three children. For 35 years, he worked at AT&T as a safety engineer, before retiring in 2012.

Barry discovered a love for classical music at a young age. He later became a season ticket holder for the Metropolitan Opera House. Barry was also an avid hunter and had a passion for both history and cooking. He had a particular fondness for trying unique foods.

Barry was predeceased by his mother, Doris LaBar Ferguson. He is survived by his father, Frank Ferguson; his children, Melissa Aparico and husband Pete, Christine Ferguson, and Barry Ferguson, Jr.; a brother, Jack Ferguson and wife Beverly; a sister, Janet Daniel and husband Steve; two cherished grandchildren, Molly and Tate; and a dear friend, Linda Ferguson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013, 12:30PM, at Summit United Methodist Church, 17 Kent Place Blvd., Summit, NJ 07901. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org).
