Obituary: Joseph Casimir Shalhoub, 57 of Aberdeen

Father of four was an active community youth coach and Brooklyn business owner.

Joseph Casimir Shalhoub, 57, born in Brooklyn, NY and longtime resident of Aberdeen, NJ, sadly passed away on March 29, 2014. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Joseph married his childhood sweetheart in 1980 and was a devoted father to his four children. Along with his mother, father, and brother, he ran Joseph Shalhoub & Son, Inc. He was proud of his accomplishments as quarterback for the St. Francis Prep and Brooklyn College football teams and was a dedicated softball, baseball, soccer, and basketball coach in Matawan-Aberdeen Township and at St. Clement Church. 

Joseph is predeceased by his father, Louis Shalhoub. 

He leaves behind his dear mother, Madeline Shalhoub; his loving wife of 33 years, Mary Jean Shalhoub ; his sons, Joseph Shalhoub, Jr. and wife Inga-Marie, Matthew Shalhoub, and Louis Shalhoub; his daughter, Casey Jennings and husband Brian; his cherished grandson, Kyle Joseph Jennings; his brother, Raymond Shalhoub and wife Jayne; his sister, Laura Avdalas and husband Nicholas; his mother-in-law, Catherine Pastore; his brother-in-law, Eugene Pastore and Sara Gines; and all of his nieces and nephews. 

Family and friends are invited for a memorial gathering on April 1, 2014 from 4-8 PM at Waitt Funeral Home, 501 HWY 79, Morganville, NJ. A memorial mass will be held April 2, 2014 at 10 AM at St. Clement Church, 172 Freneau Ave, Matawan, NJ. Burial will follow the mass at Marlboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Davis S. Zocchi Brain Tumor Center’s Camp Jinka (mail to: Foundations that Matter, 68 White Street, Suite 7-331, Red Bank NJ 07701).
