Obituary: Irene A. McConville, 86, of Matawan

Irene was an avid reader; a movie watcher, and most of all, loved being a grandmother.

Irene A. McConville, 86, of Matawan, passed away, Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Pavilion’s, Princeton. 

Irene Murphy was born in New York City where she lived and worked for 30 years.  In 1948, she married James K. McConville and later had three children.

Irene and her family moved to Old Bridge in 1960.  After raising her family, she later worked as a medical staff secretary at South Amboy Memorial Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1995.  Irene was an avid reader; a movie watcher, and most of all, loved being a grandmother.

Irene is survived by her loving children, Joanne McConville of Denver, CO; James McConville and wife Nancy of Middletown; and Geraldine McConville of Newtown, PA and her fiancé, George Swier of Matawan; a brother, John Murphy and wife Anna and a sister, Margie Boyle, all of Staten Island and four cherished grandchildren, Dan, Rachel, Meaghan and Annie. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited Monday, June 3, 2013, from 8:30-10AM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735, with a 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport, NJ.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
