Obituary: Eucharistic Minister Maria G. Drago, 81

Visitation is scheduled for Friday; funeral and burial Saturday

Maria G. Drago, 81, of Aberdeen, passed away, Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel.

Born in New York City on March 12, 1932, she has been a lifelong resident of the Aberdeen/Matawan area.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Keyport; serving as a Eucharistic Minister; a member of the Altar Rosary; the St. Joseph Seniors; and the Treasurer. She was also a member of the Aberdeen Seniors, the AARP Old Bridge Chapter; a member of the Cliffwood Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Treasurer.

Maria was a 1950 graduate of Matawan High School. She retired in 1982 from Farmer and Merchants Bank/Franklin State after 30 years of service; INL Corp after 12 years of service; and St. Joseph RC Church as a bookkeeper retiring on December 7, 2007 after nine years of service.

Maria is survived by her brother, Joseph Drago and his wife Barbara of Aberdeen; nieces, Barbara Winebrenner and her husband, Dr. Robert Winebrenner of Hagerstown, MD: Donna Saidman and her husband, Shely of Colorado Springs, CA; Debora Wilemon and her husband Clay of Laguna Nigel, CA; nephews, Joseph A. Drago and his wife Dina of Perrineville; and James Drago and his wife Alison of Memphis, TN; great nieces, Maria Winebrenner Tadic and her husband Dario of Alexandria, VA; Andrea Wilemon of Laguna Nigel, CA; Kara Drago of Memphis, TN; and Katherine Piccoli and her husband Randy of Baltimore, MD; great nephews, Joseph Drago and Christopher Drago, both of Perrineville; John Drago and his wife Meghan of Tyrone, PA; Nickolas Drago of Memphis, TN; Austin, Tyler and Kyle Wilemon, all of Laguna Nigel, CA; and John Winebrenner and his wife Stephanie of Richmond, VA; and a great great nephew, Todd Piccoli. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited, Friday, Jan. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Saturday, Jan. 18, 8:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with a 9:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
