Obituary: Ella Mary Smith-Ort, 78, of Keyport

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Jan. 28.

Ella Mary Smith-Ort, 78, of Keyport, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, New Jersey.

She was born, Ella Mary Smith on February 28, 1934 in Wharton, New Jersey. In 1956, she moved to East Orange, New Jersey and in 1984, she relocated to Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey. In 2000, Ella ultimately settled in Keyport, New Jersey, surrounded by her loving family.

She was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Rita (Hart) Smith, her beloved and devoted husband, Francis Gilbert Ort and her grandson, Francis Martin John Christiano. Ella is survived by her loving daughters, Mary Frances Reyes of Keansburg, New Jersey, Katherine Anne Gregory and her husband Glenn of Landing, New Jersey, Elizabeth Anne Christiano of Belleville, New Jersey and Jennifer Marie Berliner and her husband Timothy of Freehold, New Jersey. She is also survived by her dear brothers, Richard Smith and his wife Maryellen of Goldsboro, North Carolina, William Smith and his wife Caroline of Billings, Montana, Thomas Gary Smith of South Amboy, New Jersey, her cherished grandchildren, Taisha Mason, Robert Mason and his wife Alexis, Christina Christiano, Kourtnie Garcia and her husband Luis, Armando Ort, Brandon Gregory and Baylee Gregory, along with her adored great grandchildren, Naija Mason, Isaiah Mason, Cainan Mason, Kayla Mason, Chase Mason and Brielle Garcia. She will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

In respect of Ella's wishes, she will be privately cremated. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2000 Florence Avenue, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
