Former Keyport Post Master Dies at 88

Vito G. Esposito was past president of the Keyport Fire Patrol and a past commander with the VFW Post #4247, Keyport.

Vito G. Esposito, 88, formerly of Keyport, passed away, Sunday, October 6, 2013, at home.  Born in Brooklyn, he resided in Middletown and Keyport, before moving to Lebanon Borough three years ago.  He was the Post Master of the Keyport and Lincroft Post Offices retiring in 1977.  He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. Vito was past president of the Keyport Fire Patrol; a past commander with the VFW Post #4247, Keyport; a member of Deborah Hospital; active in the Youth Sports Leagues and a communicant of St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.  Vito held the record for the one mile track record for the Shore Conference.  Vito was a former partner in Sherlock Homes building residential housing.

Vito was predeceased by his parents, Giosue and Rosa (Attenna) Esposito; and his siblings, Connie Piazza; Yolanda Nigro; Agnes Baldwin; Michael Esposito and Al Esposito.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris (Marr) Esposito; two loving sons, Michael R. Esposito and wife Debbie of Califon; and Paul J. Esposito and wife Paula A. of Hummelstown, PA; a dear sister, Gloria Furey of Middletown; a sister-in-law, Therese Esposito of Matawan; five cherished grandchildren, Erin, Jacqueline and Margaret Esposito; Daniel Esposito and wife Mollie Barnes; and Diana Kelleher and husband Sean; and a precious great grandson, Skyler Esposito.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited Wednesday from 3:30-8:30 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Keyport Fire Patrol, P.O.
