Former Counselor with Leesburg State Prison, 68, Dies

He lived in Keansburg before moving to the Matawan/Old Bridge area and spent his later years at Madison Center Nursing and Rehabilitation.

James Brian Townsend, 68, of Old Bridge/Matawan area, passed away, Friday, June 21, 2013, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Brooklyn, he resided in Keansburg before moving to Old Bridge. James worked as a drug and alcohol counselor with the Leesburg State Prison, Vineland. In his later years, he resided at Madison Center Nursing and Rehabilitation and served as the resident council president.   

James was predeceased by his parents, W.A. and Mary Lucille (Quinn) Townsend.  He is survived by his loving children, James Brian Townsend and wife Jessica of Huntersville, NC and Thomas Townsend of Durham, NC; a dear sister, Barbara Basile and husband James of Aberdeen; and four cherished grandchildren, Trevor, Mackenzie, Brady and Blake.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
