The Matawan Borough Police Department will participate in the National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday, Aug. 7, along with over 15,000 communities from across the United States, according to the National Night Out (NNO) website.
The department is inviting residents to come outside between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Aug. 7 and turn on their porch lights, relax out front of their homes, or meet up with neighbors. Just come outside and take a stand against crime in the community.
Officers will also be driving around to meet residents and to also hand out items such as coolers and mugs to everyone they see participating.
According to the NNO website, the evening is designed to help prevent drugs and crime by demonstrating a committment to the community.

Very disappointed that no one else on my street was out, though.
Your cause is a lost one. Sorry it didn't pick up steam. Must be frustrating...
