Turkey Trot Registration Underway

Registration is open for Matawan’s 5K Turkey Trot and Fitness Walk.

The post-Thanksgiving event, which benefits the borough’s parks, recreation programs and events, is billed as a way to “run off your stuffing” on Saturday, Nov. 30.

Last year's event was canceled because of ongoing recovery efforts in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. 

Registration on race day opens at 8 a.m. for the 10 a.m. contests at Terhune Park on Main and Broad Streets, according to organizers. The entry fee is $25, and children can participate in the free kiddy dash at 10:45 a.m.

Awards will be given to the top three male and female runners and the top finishers in numerous age groups.

Donations for the Matawan Food Pantry will be accepted at the event, according to organizers.
