Aberdeen Hosting Holiday Ceremonies

Menorah and Christmas tree lighting events scheduled at Town Hall

Aberdeen officials are gearing up to celebrate the holiday season, with ceremonies celebrating Chanukah and Christmas in early December.

Town Hall will host a Menorah lighting ceremony on Dec. 3, followed by a Christmas tree lighting on Dec. 5, according to a township news release.

Led by Rabbi Aaron Ross, the Menorah lighting will begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 6:30 p.m. Synagogue members will perform Chanukah songs during the event, according to the township.

The township is also celebrating the donation of a Menorah by Young Israel of Aberdeen with a dedication on Monday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. Mayor Fred Tagliarini and members of the Township Council will be in attendance

The Christmas tree lighting, which runs from 7 to 10 p.m., will feature the lighting of the tree, Christmas carols, musical performances by students from Matawan Aberdeen Middle School, hot chocolate and cookies, and the arrival of Santa Claus.

The Aberdeen Township Municipal Building is located on Church Street just off Atlantic Avenue.
