Kundalini Yogawas not taught publicly until 1969  by Yogi Bhajan on the West Coast of the United States. Challenging the ages-old tradition of secrecy, he began teaching Kundalini Yoga in the form of kriyas. Kriya means action, and a kriya is comprised of exercises put together scientifically and systematically, designed to have a specific outcome. Their are many  kriyas with different intentions.  A kriya can address the seven chakras,  the aura, the glandular system, the nervous system, as well as harness the energy of the mind and emotions. In Kundalini Yoga it is believed that by awakening one’s awareness one can live from the authentic self. This is called Sat Naam, where identity is truth and truth is ones essence.
