Aberdeen Township to Host Fishing Contest As Part of Aberdeen Day Festivities

Aberdeen Township will host a Fishing Contest on Saturday, September 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Cliffwood Beach Park as part of the Aberdeen Day schedule of events.

Contestants will compete for trophies in three different age categories: Adults (18 and over), Teens (13-18) and children (under 13).

Contestants can sign up at the Fisherman's Parking Lot -- located just off the last right hand turn on Lakeshore Drive -- starting at 7:30 am.  The event will take place rain or shine, but will be cancelled in the event of an electrical storm.  All Federal and State fishing regulations apply during the contest.  Participation is free-of-charge and is open to the entire community.  Participants must be signed in prior to fishing to be eligible to win.  Anglers need to provide their own equipment.

Participants should be aware that New Jersey now requires Saltwater Registration for everyone 16 years of age and older.  There is no charge for this.  Please register on the state website: http://www.nj.gov./dep/saltwaterregistry.

For more information, please contact Frank Huza, Aberdeen Township Environmental Board at (732) 566-2390 or fjhuza@gmail.com.
